"The stuff of nightmares . . ."

I was a kid, among four, who lived on Victoria Terrace, Wavertree in the 1960s . . . Brabin’s was at the end of the terrace set back from the road. The guys there knew us and frequently gave the dog a pork chop or some sausages which he brought home looking rather pleased with himself.

BUT Victoria Terrace was overrun with cockroaches and mice, fumigation and mouse traps were par for the course and a meat-processing plant in the middle of a residential area was a hazard waiting to erupt.

I’m not surprised to see they’ve relocated, I bear them no ill-will and it was nothing more than curiosity to see if they are still around. Some things are best kept apart and while the dog was happy, we kids were glad to move on.

Best Wishes to Mr Wm. Brabin and family but the world of yesteryear has moved on, Thankfully..
